Dave Kane – Ashtanga Yoga

I discovered Ashtanga Yoga whilst travelling in Thailand in the summer of 2008, beginning
the practice in earnest when I found my teacher Joey Miles, at Ashtanga Yoga Leeds, on
my return from S.E. Asia.

I have been taught the traditional 'Mysore Style' Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system, in accordance with 'Parampara' This is the principle of knowledge based on direct and
practical experience passed in succession from teacher to student, and this is the
foundation for my own teaching.

In 2012, I spent 2 months studying at the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute with R. Sharath Jois in Mysore, India. In 2013 I completed a 200hr Yoga Alliance teacher training in Varkala, India. In 2015 I again spent one month in Mysore studying
with Sharath Jois. I am also truly blessed to study with, and assist, my teacher Joey Miles at Ashtanga Yoga Leeds on a daily basis.

As an acclaimed professional double bassist and composer, I am no stranger to the importance of having a regular and dedicated practice schedule and the resultant
benefits of such a discipline. If you practice a musical instrument everyday, you
will become a better musician. If you practice Yoga everyday,
it may well change your life.
